LEAD VOCAL COACH || In-Person Only

Ashley Nicole Dawson, a Richmond, VA native, is a professional singer, musician, and accomplished voice teacher with over a decade of experience. She holds a master's degree in voice performance from Ball State University, where she earned a scholarship following her bachelor's degree in vocal performance from Liberty University. During her studies, Ashley excelled in various genres including opera, musical theater, pop, rock, indie/folk, and jazz, performing roles such as Norina in Donizetti’s Don Pasquale and Mabel in Gilbert and Sullivan’s Pirates of Penzance.

Recognized for her dramatic vocal flair and awarded 1st place in the Ball State Graduate Vocal Competition, Ashley's passion for teaching led her to become an Adjunct Professor of Voice at Taylor University. She emphasizes sustainable vocal technique and encourages students to sing in multiple languages, including Italian, French, German and Spanish. Her own voice studio fosters a safe space for students to explore, make mistakes, and grow. With this belief in mind, her current and former students have made tremendous progress in producing their own music, overcoming vocal issues, and sustaining a healthy relationship with their voice across all genres of music.

Now collaborating with Poppy Vocal Studio, Ashley remains dedicated to nurturing unique voices in Richmond. She is committed to challenging and uplifting her students, ensuring each voice is supported and efforts are recognized. With a steadfast belief in the potential of every student, Ashley fosters a creative environment where students are empowered to find their unique sound and excel in their musical journey. Through her guidance, students develop not only their voice but also a profound appreciation for the art of singing.
